Dynamic Discovery of Applications and Tiers.
With AppDynamics, application services (such as order processing inventory and pricing) are identified and labeled automatically. Inter-relationships across services and tiers are likewise detected, including multiple nodes within each tier, as well as third-party services. Dynamic discovery means that discovery is based on live traffic, not static configuration files, so that when new services or back-end tiers are added, AppDynamics immediately discovers them.

Dynamic discovery of business transactions.
AppDynamics automatically discovers and labels business transactions for all common Java application stacks (Servlet/JSP, EJB, Spring, Web Services, Struts, JMS, etc). In addition, advanced transaction discovery capabilities include real-time request payload inspection, assignment of a business-friendly name to each transaction, splitting and grouping of transactions for tracking purposes, and the ability to reduce clutter by excluding transactions not relevant to performance monitoring.

Live transaction flow visualization.
AppDynamics visually displays both application services and back-end tiers with easily identifiable icons representing elements such as databases, application servers and message queues. Inter-relationships between elements are displayed via connected, directional lines to indication business transaction flows. The transactions flows are displayed for the application as a whole, as well as for individual business transactions.
