The AppDynamics team went to Santa Clara, California this week for O’Reilly’s Velocity conference. If you aren’t familiar with the Velocity conference, it is the premier web performance conference. The event was packed with great sessions from the world’s foremost experts on web performance. The AppDynamics team was in full force presenting, exhibiting, and hosting office hours for our community.
While I was at Velocity I picked up some interesting facts about the business impact of performance:
- When the Obama fundraising platform improved performance by 60%, donations converted 14% better (a $34.7 million improvement over the life of the platform).
- When Facebook delayed scroll performance, they saw a 1% drop in engagement.
- After Trulia optimized their search web performance they saw a 11% increase in searches.
- Find out more about the impact of performance from the insightful Steve Souders
Our very own Steve “AppMan” Burton presented with John Martin of Edmunds.com

AppMan made a special appearance for Velocity. AppMan was well received to say the least:
If you are in the bay area and missed Velocity, you should join Web Performance Days unconference hosted at Google.
