Resin Application Monitoring

Java

Resin Professional is a Java EE (Enterprise Edition) certified framework stack that comprises a Smart Load Balancer, HTTP Proxy Cache, Web Server, and Application Server. Resin’s architecture was designed to power SaaS applications and supply a foundation for IaaS and PaaS platforms. Resin supports clustering for dynamic scaling within public cloud infrastructures like Amazon EC2, as well as private and hybrid cloud infrastructures.

In addition, it offers distributed caching to minimize reliance on traditional databases, adaptive health monitoring of applications, and versioned deployment for full control of transparent upgrade processes. An open source version of Resin is available but lacks various optimizations and features that come with the Professional version. For developers and operations teams building and managing applications with the Resin application server, the AppDynamics platform provides a comprehensive solution for monitoring and managing the performance of your Java applications. With rapid installation and the most scalable architecture in the industry, AppDynamics solutions help you deploy your applications more quickly and with more confidence.

Monitor business transactions on Resin

Applications running on OC4J server, instrumented with AppDynamics Java agents, are auto- discovered and displayed in a visual flow map. Business transactions are automatically discovered with out-of-the-box configurations as seen in the application dashboard.

Resin specific JMX Means

AppDynamics can easily connect to the JMX Server of the Resin application server to view exposed management beans. In AppDynamics, simply select the node running on Resin application server and choose the JMX tab to access the MBean browser in order to view these Resin specific MBeans. In the MBeans, you can drill down to the individual MBean attributes as well.

Memory visibility

Not only does AppDynamics access Resin MBean information, it also provides an in-depth view of the memory usage within the JVM and Resin. Simply go to the node running on Resin application server and choose the memory tab to see heap and garbage collection information, real-time memory utilizations and even object instance information.

JVM environment visibility

AppDynamics also can provide JVM environmental information of your application running on Resin. Simply go to the node running on Resin application server and choose the JVM tab to see all startup options and environment properties.
