i-nexus selects AppDynamics to drive continuous performance improvement

Challenge: Needed a tool to manage performance of servers and databases

As part of its ongoing efforts to drive continuous improvement in their technology platform, i-nexus searched for a tool that would support its efforts to deliver responsiveness and performance to its users.

With 30 Java virtual machines (JVM) and eight database servers, i-nexus needed an integrated application performance management (APM) and database monitoring solution that could provide visibility across both Java and database environments as well as adjust to its evolving infrastructure.

AppDynamics provided insight across entire network

“Having reviewed the market, we chose the AppDynamics platform for Java monitoring and database monitoring,” said Rollo du Pré, Chief Architect at i-nexus. “Both of these features are impressive, providing increased insight into application and database performance. The fact they are part of the same solution gives us the ability to track performance from an individual business transaction through multiple application servers right into the database layer, and to compare this with a historical baseline for the same transaction.”

The AppDynamics platform is so simple to install and use, we were getting real value within hours without any formal training.

The integration between the AppDynamics APM and Database Monitoring modules allowed seamless drill-downs between the two products, tracking business transactions from one to the other, for rapid problem analysis. In addition, the auto-discovery capabilities were ideally suited for the rapidly changing i-nexus environment, continually adjusting to match deployment modifications.

Improved MTTR and prioritized technology enhancements

“Incorporating the AppDynamics platform into the evolution of our SaaS environment has been positive and is an important source of the data we need to maintain and improve performance and responsiveness for all of our users,” said du Pré.
