AppDynamics Announces Fully Integrated Application Monitoring For Microsoft Azure Platform

Press Release

Efficient environment allows developers to use the application platforms they want and benefit from AppDynamics’ leading application intelligence across any platform and any cloud

SAN FRANCISCO – December 3, 2015 –  AppDynamics, a leading application intelligence company, today announced that it has extended its relationship with Microsoft Corp. AppDynamics’ customers can now utilize an open development environment with Microsoft Azure or Microsoft .NET, providing them a single application intelligence platform that they have been demanding.

“To create a far-reaching development environment takes a strong ecosystem,” said Mathew Polly, vice president of worldwide alliances and business development for AppDynamics. “With AppDynamics’ enhanced support for .NET and Azure environments, application performance is quickly transforming from a management task that occurs after an application goes into production. It’s an integral and integrated part of the end-to-end software development lifecycle. This will dramatically improve the developer experience and their ability to quickly deliver high performance applications to the market.”

Delivering More Choices to Joint Customers

“Today’s announcement represents a deepening of Microsoft’s and AppDynamics’ relationship,” said Eduardo Enciso, partner business evangelist at Microsoft. “Microsoft is committed to provide our customers with a truly open development environment to help ensure they can use any platform to develop and manage applications for any cloud environment. AppDynamics shares that vision.”

Instrumenting AppDynamics Intelligence Directly Into Microsoft Environments

With the integration of AppDynamics 4.2 functionality into Azure and .NET, customers can have a single tool to monitor the performance and gain insight into production applications in environments. In addition, developers can use the AppDynamics agent in Azure to accelerate development of new, high-performance applications on any software platform more quickly—by integrating application performance monitoring and intelligence at every phase of the software development lifecycle: dev/test, staging/deployment, and production.

Through the agent, AppDynamics’ functionality has been integrated into Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Microsoft Azure Database as a Service, and Microsoft Azure Service Bus.

AppDynamics has also enhanced support for .NET 4.6 environments, providing developers with visibility into an increased number of applications across .NET platforms that will streamline the development process and enhance the developer experience.

“AppDynamics gives us a much better visualization of what's going on under the hood in our applications,” said James Graham, project manager at Macmillan Publishing Group. “AppDynamics APM shows us how the different services interact, and allows us to sort through the data to fix the real problems. It was very easy to plug in and deploy on Azure. Within a few hours of getting the license keys, Macmillan's developers were able to identify a problem they had been trying to locate for over a month.”
