Press Release

90 high school students to attend speed networking event hosted at AppDynamics’ Headquarters; Event underscores company’s commitment to giving back

SAN FRANCISCO – November 19, 2014 – AppDynamics, the application intelligence leader for software-defined businesses, today announced a partnership with First Graduate, a San Francisco-based college success program that helps students finish high school and become the first in their families to graduate from college ready to pursue meaningful careers. As part of First Graduate’s ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ program, AppDynamics will today welcome 90 San Francisco high school students into the company’s headquarters for a speed networking event. By hosting the event AppDynamics underscores its commitment to giving back to the the city and people of San Francisco.

In the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), it is estimated that eight out of 10 students have parents who are not college graduates, and without some form of intervention only 6 percent of them will graduate from college. First Graduate’s ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ program aims to help students realize the world of opportunities that will be available to them with a college degree, as well as concrete details about what the path might look like and the work it entails. Thanks in large part to this program, 100 percent of First Graduate’s high school seniors graduate from high school and enroll in colleges such as Barnard, Harvard, Middlebury, The University of San Francisco, Tufts and the University of California, Berkeley.

“The AppDynamics family is thrilled to welcome First Graduate and the students of the program to our office,” said Jyoti Bansal, founder and CEO of AppDynamics. “San Francisco provides a world of professional opportunities and we are happy to help these students not only see the importance of a college education, but empower them to find a successful career that will enable them to achieve lifelong fulfillment. AppDynamics has made a commitment to give back to the people of San Francisco and inspiring young adults to take control of their futures is a critical responsibility and honor.”

The participating students will have an opportunity to meet with AppDynamics employees with various career backgrounds to learn more about different fields, as well as polish their public speaking skills with the help of potential mentors. In addition to the speed networking event, the evening will include dinner and commentary from Bansal, and information about how students can apply for internships at AppDynamics.

“This is the beginning of a wonderful partnership with AppDynamics. It exemplifies the shared value that comes from showing our students the career possibilities that can open up to them when they attain their college degrees.” stated Thomas Ahn, executive director at First Graduate.

The event will take place from 4pm-8 p.m. PST at AppDynamics’ headquarters, located in San Francisco, California.
