San Francisco - January 23, 2019- AppDynamics, a Cisco company and the leader in application intelligence, today unveiled Cognition Engine, the next evolution of application performance monitoring. Cognition Engine builds on AppDynamics’ industry leading dynamic baseline, transaction snapshots and business analytics to deliver application performance diagnostics and automated root-cause analysis that has the ability to reduce resolution times from minutes to seconds. Cognition Engine extends AIOps to the application, introducing new levels of insight that empower modern businesses with a competitive edge in the digital economy.
The new standards for digital experiences have caused the volume of data to rapidly escalate. It is now humanly impossible to find meaning amongst trillions of metrics, however, that is the daunting reality for modern enterprises. Locating the handful of metrics that matter across distributed and complex systems, spanning multicloud, containerized and serverless environments, cannot be achieved manually, especially given the small window of customer patience and wide range of technical interdependencies.
“Cognition Engine turns traditional APM on its head. Rather than chasing symptoms, the top suspects for root cause are automatically surfaced. That level of insight completely changes the game for IT, freeing them of tedious tasks and empowering them to focus on creating business impact,” said JF Huard, CTO data science at AppDynamics. “Cognition Engine ultimately empowers enterprises to embrace an AIOps mindset – valuing proaction over reaction, answers over investigation and, most importantly, never losing focus on customer experience or business performance.”
Introducing AppDynamics Cognition Engine
At Cognition Engine’s core is AppDynamics’ industry-leading Business Transaction and machine learning expertise from Perspica, which joined the AppDynamics team in 2017. The integration of these technologies is the foundation of AppDynamics Cognition Engine:
“Technology scale has quickly outpaced human capacity in IT operations. However, notable advances have been made with artificial intelligence that can proactively identify emerging problems as well as pinpoint their cause, even in the most complex application architectures,” said Nancy Gohring, senior analyst at 451 Research. “AIOps tools that use sophisticated analytics techniques can reduce the amount of time and the number of people involved in troubleshooting IT problems, allowing organizations to reallocate resources to mission-critical projects.”
Cognition Engine is available to SaaS customers at no additional cost.
