SAN FRANCISCO, April 4, 2008 -- AppDynamics announced today the company has raised $5.5 million in its first venture capital funding effort. Greylock Partners and Lightspeed Partners, two of Silicon Valley's premier venture capital firms.
The founder of AppDynamics is Jyoti Bansal. Before founding AppDynamics, Mr. Bansal was a lead architect at Wily Technology (acquired by Computer Associates for $375M), where he was responsible for architecture and design for multiple product lines. Before Wily, Jyoti held senior engineering roles at Datasweep and netLens. Already, Mr. Bansal has hired a top tier core engineering team with APM and systems management experience from Wily, BMC, VMWare, Oracle, and Sun.
From Greylock Partners, Asheen Chanda joins the company's board of directors. Asheem's areas of interest span enterprise IT infrastructure, software and services. He has invested in companies in cloud computing, data center, virtualization, networking, management, and security. As a company board director, he works closely and supportively with founders and management teams to help create and grow “category-leading” companies that provide customers with highly-differentiated product capabilities and superior business value.
From LightSpeed Partners, Ravi Mahtre joins the board as well. Ravi focuses primarily on software infrastructure, applications and Internet investments. He has twelve years of venture capital experience and six years of operating experience. Ravi has served on the Board of Directors for The Indus Entrepreneurs Group (TiE) in Silicon Valley, has been recognized as a Top 100 dealmaker on Forbes’ Annual VC Midas List and has served as a judge for the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Competition.
The AppDynamics solution signals a radical shift in Application Performance Management (APM) best practices, and particularly in regards to its ability to deliver rapid problem resolution for highly distributed applications through easy-to-use transaction flow monitoring and deep diagnostics.
