PHP CLI (Command Line Interface) is a micro-framework formulated to quickly create a PHP-based Command Line applications. Developers can use PHP CLI to create shell scripts and other PHP-based service-side support scripts that can leverage PHP5’s multithreading capabilities without having to use another coding language like Bash or Perl. Its features include Object Oriented PHP5; arguments, flags, and options; interactive input; and minimal coding. Using PHP CLI, developers can set up and run scheduled (CRON) tasks written in PHP and make GUI applications using PHP and GTK (GIMP Toolkit), among other things. PHP CLI works on major operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, as well as most Linux distributions.
