Symfony is an open-source PHP framework for web applications. It provides a straightforward toolbox of components called "bundles" that act like Legos so that developers can add or change components without having to completely reconfigure an app. Because Symfony’s architecture adheres to strict PHP standards, developers also may use individual bundles to build software without having to use the complete framework or worry about the quality of the code being used. Symfony is fast, uses a small footprint, and is well supported both by its community and its sponsor SensioLabs. Version 8 of Drupal will incorporate key components of Symfony, including HttpKernel, Routing, EventDispatcher, DependencyInjection, and ClassLoader, making the two frameworks interoperable.
