ASP.NET MVC 5 is the latest version of .NET’s open-source web application framework. MVC 5 uses MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture to write applications, services, and APIs. MVC 5 utilizes an extensible, plugin framework that enables developers to customize or replace such components as view engines, action-method parameter serialization, and URL routing policies. It also comes with powerful URL mapping to build apps with searchable URLs that support SEO-optimized naming patterns and REST (Representational State Transfer) Addressing. MVC 5 incorporates a host of new features, including an updated project template that can use Bootstrap, powerful new authentication filters, filter overrides, and attribute routing support. MVC 5 can also be installed in tandem with MVC 4 for backward compatibility.
