Frequently asked questions
How is APM license priced?
APM license units are priced by agents. Agent units are counted differently depending on the language. APM Any language license allows customers to easily switch between languages. We are constantly adding new languages and functionality. Learn more about how our APM agent works or contact us to learn more.
Does AppDynamics offer monitoring solution for microservices?
Pricing is available for highly elastic architectures that include microservices, Docker containers, or that leverage cloud auto-scaling. Our APM Any microservices license allows you to monitor applications in Docker Containers, all CloudFoundry-based providers, Redhat OpenShift, Heroku Dyno, Microsoft Azure App Services, Microsoft Azure Service Fabric, Microsoft Azure Containers, Amazon Elastic Beanstalk, Oracle PaaS (Java and Node.js only) and Bluemix Containers. Contact us to learn more.
Note: if you are an existing customer with a legacy Java Microservice license (not an APM Any Language Microservice license), your entitlement will have a limitation on heap size allocation per JVM instance.
Does AppDynamics monitor Kubernetes?
Yes, we offer our AppDynamics Cluster Agent, which is purpose-built to efficiently gather monitoring data from across an orchestrated cluster.
Does AppDynamics have pricing options for large enterprise customers with complex architectures, such as environments that dynamically scale?
Are subscription licenses locked to particular application stack or CPU?
Our APM Any Language Licenses allow customers to easily switch between languages. Legacy language-specific APM licenses can be floated between similar stacks; but cannot be converted from one language to another. However, the Any Language License upgrade is free for customers with existing language specific APM licenses and controller version 4.3 or above. If you are a customer with language specific APM, we highly recommend the upgrade to Any Language License as it allows you the flexibility to switch between licenses. Contact your sales rep to initiate your upgrade or contact us to learn more.
How is End User Monitoring priced?
End User Monitoring modules are priced based on the amount of traffic (for example pageviews and users) on your applications. End User Monitoring has four modules: Browser, Mobile, Synthetics (Hosted and Private Agent) and Connected Devices (IoT). For more information on End User Monitoring, please contact us.
How is Database Visibility priced?
Database Visibility is priced by database instance units. Units are counted differently depending on the database platform you need monitored. AppDynamics offers Database Visibility for Oracle, IBM DB2, MongoDB and other databases with one central installation, all with a single pane of glass view. Contact us to learn more.
