Introducing the AppDynamics Customer Advisory Council

What is AppDynamics Customer Advisory Council?

Customer Advisory Council (CAC) is an in-depth, hands-on experience here at AppDynamics. We envision our customers as power users and want them to experiment with our latest products, features, and ideas before we raise the curtains. We strongly believe that a tight feedback loop between our product teams and customers will continue to deliver better product.

Launched at AppSphere in 2014, the AppDynamics Fan Club — the AppDynamics loyalty program — is the hub for super-users. During the CAC, super-users sit with Product Managers and Engineers to provide usability suggestions, feature requests, and other feedback. The customer success team attends to collect feedback on past experiences, ensuring AppDynamics continues to deliver world-class support and service to our most valuable asset – our users.

What is the Customer Advisory Council experience like?

We hosted our first Customer Advisory Council on May 27th, 2015 at our San Francisco Headquarters. Group of experienced AppDynamics users were invited from all over the country.

The day was intense, including technical discussions, prototyping, testing, and product roadmap ideation. We kicked off the event with an overview of exciting features and improvements prior to our summer release, users received their own environment pre-set with our newest pre-release to experiment with. Since we deliberately kept the user-to-Product-Manager ratio low, everybody was able to receive focused attention and a personal experience. Users left excited about AppDynamics’ next generation product, new knowledge from their peers, and great prizes from Fan Club.

Users shared tricks and secrets of how they use AppDynamics to troubleshoot their applications and provide visibility into their software defined businesses. Customers and engineering teams alike discovered valuable tips and features that extend the value of using the AppDynamics Intelligence Platform. It was a candid and open platform for our customers to make suggestions and have their questions answered immediately.

When surveyed about the experience of the Customer Advisory Council, over 80% of participants said they enjoyed it and would come back. Some even encouraged us to do these sessions more frequently.
